SWD Shanghai Oceanic Project
SWD Shanghai is completing one of the largest polyurea coating projects in the world. The project involved anti-corrosion polyurea coatings applied to multi- steel constructed caissons and its pipeline system. Special polyureas were developed to meet site conditions, including a special polyurea that can be hand applied.
The project involved joint teamwork of Chinese, U.S., and Australian chemists and engineers.
- Located in the Indian Ocean
- Large caisson-pipeline project
- International project run in conjunction with CITIC
The coatings were also applied to desalinization equipment, over 200 tons of polyurea have been used in stage 1 of the project. The polyurea material needs to withstand saltwater corrosion, tropical storms, and electrical-chemical corrosion.
